Society of Women Engineers – Conference in Dallas!

 WHEN : Feb.1st, 2013

The Society of Women Engineers at Southern Methodist University is hosting the annual Region C Conference February 1-3 2013 at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel! Over 200 practicing engineers and college students from across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas will attend the conference whose sponsors include the Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering at SMU, Texas Instruments, AT&T & Lockheed Martin among others!

The focus of the conference is recognizing that engineers are agents of change. Engineers have more than just words and money to offer developing areas both internationally and locally. Engineering ideas new and old alike surround us in our daily lives, from the sanitized water we drink in the morning, to the fuel efficiency of our cars, to the design of the buildings we enter every day. The work of engineers is everywhere. Members of SWE represent a new kind of engineer. We are people who deal with big ideas and big issues. We change landscapes, economies and minds. SWE is an outlet for engineers to meet other designers, innovators, and agents of change. Together we can solve problems and meet challenges with confidence. The world is struggling but we are the solution. Engineers.

In addition to over 16 workshops and a career fair with 30+ companies, attendees will have the opportunity to attend engineering technical tours of Klyde Warren Park, the Perot Museum of Nature & Science, a Raytheon Plant, a Turner Construction Site & Alcatel-Lucent’s Executive Briefing Center. Registration is still open to members and non-members (including men)!
