CoLodging Club Re-Imagines Shared Housing For Today’s Baby Boomer

Offers Financial, Lifestyle and Health Benefits

CoLodging Club seeks to address the looming societal issues that single Baby Boomers face today and as they age. CoLodging Club will enable these Baby Boomers to see the financial, lifestyle and health benefits of home sharing and will be the facilitator for getting the right people together on a face-to-face basis. Having a compatible housemate will help with housing concerns; alleviate isolation, depression and loneliness; save money in a variety of ways and improve one’s health. Whether single by choice, widowed, through “Grey Divorce” or a part of the aging LGBT community, sharing one’s space is a very viable option for both short term and long term life planning.

Potential members will go to www.CoLodgingClub.com for information and to sign up for membership. The unique twist will be the members only “live and local” events where they will “mix and mingle” with potential housemates in a safe, fun and educational environment.

There are approximately 76 million Baby Boomers in the U.S. By 2017, half of the U.S. population will be part of this group. The divorce rate has doubled for Boomers in the last 20 years and is expected to hit 800,000 by 2030. Life expectancy is increasing and is expected to rise to 80 years of age in 2020. A new Pew Research report was just released that states there are more singles than married people in the U.S.

The Aging 2.0 Report (Metlife Mature Market Institute) states that most Boomers want to “Age in Place”. The financial savings of shared housing can help pay for a mortgage, home remodels, technologies and even health/care services to allow the housemates to remain safe, independent and ideally out of institutional settings, which most Boomers say they want to avoid.

Laurie Miller, owner of Apple Care & Companion, a Dallas area eldercare agency, is the Founder of CoLodging Club. Laurie’s experiences in dealing with the Baby Boomer children of Apple Care’s clients led her to see this need and envision CoLodging Club.
