22nd annual Teddy Bear Ride
builds awareness of child abuse, neglect

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County’s longest-standing fundraising event, the Teddy Bear Ride, will rumble out of the parking lot at IKEA Frisco on Oct. 26, 2014 to raise awareness and funds to benefit abused children served by the CACCC.

Each year, hundreds of bikers take to the streets of North Texas to highlight the plight of abused children and encourage others to join the fight against child abuse. Participants will adorn their bikes with plush new teddy bears which will make their way into the arms of waiting children who come to the CACCC for help following an outcry of abuse.

“Harley-Davidson Financial Services is proud to sponsor the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County’s Teddy Bear Ride,” said Larry Hund, President and Chief Operating Officer of HDFS. “This annual event is a great way for us to support employee volunteer activities and to give back to the community in which many of our employees live and work.”

“We are so appreciative of our supporters and the many hundreds of participants who make this event possible,” said Lynne McLean, CEO of the Children’s Advocacy Center. “Every bear collected and every dollar raised will be used to provide comfort and hope to abused children who come to us for help.”

The 22nd annual event will begin at IKEA in Frisco with registration at 8:30 a.m. followed by breakfast proudly provided by IKEA. Bikers will rev their engines with kickstands up at 9:45 a.m. This year’s new and improved route will end at Rick Fairless’ Stroker’s in Dallas at approximately 10:45 a.m. Event highlights at Stroker’s will include vendor booths, raffle prize drawings, live music and food and drinks available for purchase at Dallas/Fort Worth’s premier bike hangout.

“At IKEA, our vision is to create a better everyday life for many people, and children are the most important people to us,” IKEA Dallas Store Manager Robby Wierman said. “This is why we are so honoured to partner with CACCC to help improve the lives of children in our community.”

“(The Teddy Bear Ride) helps out abused children who need our help,” said Rick Fairless, Founder of Stroker’s Dallas. “Bikers are the best dang people on the planet, these kids need our help, and we are going to be there to help them.”

The cost to participate in the Teddy Bear Ride is just $10 plus a new teddy bear to donate. An estimated 900 bikers are expected to take to the streets of North Texas to send a message that there is no excuse for child abuse in our community.
